GATB nonsense

GATB nonsense

Postby jpower on Thu Feb 04, 2010 1:08 pm

Hi all

I have been prepairing to do my re write for GATB and I am starting to think it wasn't my knowledge or ability that caused my failing grade

I have tryed to contact ATS numnerous times in the past few weeks to explain the grading structure for the GATB test to me. So far none of the customer service reps have been able to give me info regarding the test parameters or general idea of how this test is marked. I am still waiting on a reply back via email or phone from a manager who "should" be able to help me. My test is this weekend and I really don't want to go in not having the tools to be sucessful.

I was wondering if anyone can fill me in on details that have been explained fuzzy or that are just plain confusing

I am wondering if all the questions per section (sections being; math, problem solving, word association, spacial folding) have to be completed. From what I can remember there were roughly 40 questions per section. I asked the CSR at ATS, it seems impossible to answer all the questions in the 6 or 7 minutes given per section is it neccisary to answer every question? She said no there are way to many to answer in the time aloted, and you are not marked incorrect for questions you do not answer. So I then asked So if the test is, lets say out of 40, I answer 20 of the 40 and I get all 20 right do I get 100% or 50% on the test. She said 50%. So for a test that is impossible to answer all the questions on, and I am not marked incorrect for answers I don't anwer I still fail? I am going to call shinanigans on

Lol can anyone see my confusion and hopefully have some insight to this test.

There were other items that just seemed mind bogeling to me but this post is already long enough

Hope someone can help

Well I think I have this figured out now

ATS contaced me this morning and gave me the low down. They aren't allowed to give much detail as to how the GATB is marked, which doesn't make sense to me but what are you going to do.

From what I understand each section has way too many questions to possibly answer in the time given but you are not required to answer everything. I was told you are not negativly marked for incorrect answers but are required to answer a specific number of questions correctly. To me this means they have this many questions so you have a multitude to choose from and you take your pick. This being said you still have to meet the soft cap or pre determind amount of right answers. If you get an answer wrong it doesn't matter as long as you have enough right to hit the cap.

Why they make this so conveluted and confusing doesn't make sense to me, but that's the way she goes I guess

Thanks for the views and pm's hope this helps someone in the future

Take care

It's a stress test, plain and simple. Can you work quickly and efficiently under a time crunch. The time crunch is the independent variable, evoking stress in you causing the manipulation of the dependent variable, your ability to perform on the test. Although I agree with you that it's frustrating that no standard scheme of marking is posted you would be wise to answer as many questions correctly as you can. I have written the GATB and had no problem passing it at all.

If you're having difficulty with the GATB, private message me for mentoring, I can help you out with achieving the score you need to pass.
